My Kingdom for the Princess

My Review :
-----------------------
Great Adventure game, very good story line.
Great graphics and game play.
Game is simple to play, exciting.
Though the number of levels are small, but replaying the game for a better score is not a bad idea.
Good mini games available in between.
Overall a great game.

Hints, Strategies :

-------------------------

How to play:

My Kingdom for the Princess is a strategic game, where you click on locations, places and people to interact with them, and complete the tasks set out for you in that level, and create a clear path for you to exit the level.

Bonus:

At the bottom of the screen, you see a bar that slowly fills up, with a little logo in the middle. This logo shows you which bonus the level has, and once it lights up you can activate it. In later levels, you will have the choice between multiple bonusses; so if for instance (see screenshot) you want an extra worker instead of extra supplies, just wait for the extra worker-icon to light up.

An important tip when it comes to bonusses, is to time them right, so you can make the most of it. For instance, if you want to use the "work faster"-bonus, don't activate it immediately when available, but wait until one of your workers has actually started working. And if you want to use the "extra supplies"-bonus, wait just before your worker enters the house. This way, you don't spend valuable time on just walking somewhere.

Reading the walkthrough:

The first few levels, will describe pretty much step by step what to do and where to go. This is to help you get a feel of how you plan effectively in this game.

After that, I will list the priorities in which you can best take up tasks, in order to play the level most effectively, and go for an expert score. The trick is to work your way in one main direction, constructing the buildings as you go. Unless stated otherwise, constructing a building has priority over finishing a certain part of the map.

TIPS TO GET THAT EXPERT SCORE:

- Take your time when you enter the level. The timer doesn't start until you click for the first time, so take your time to oversee the level and plan ahead.

- You can only set one action at a time per worker. So it is not possible, like in many time-management games, to give your character multiple tasks at once. However, once you have multiple worker, you can assign one task for each of them. If one worker is clearing the path, you can send the other worker down that path shortly before the worker is finished. This will save you valuable seconds.

- Keep an eye on the spots where you gathered free supplies before. These supplies will often regenerate during the level.

- The warehouse is more valuable than you'd think at first. Try and build, and upgrade this as soon as possible, if it is available in a level. My prefered order is usually: build the warehouse, build the sawmill, upgrade the sawmill, upgrade the warhouse.

- Despite the time pressure, it can sometimes be better to wait two seconds for a building to be build, before picking up a resource. If you have related buildings (i.e. a sawmill for logs), the resource you pick up is worth more.

- If you are waiting for a worker to clear the last path, you can go out and gather some extra free supplies for bonus points. However, make sure you're back before the last worker, since you don't want to have to wait for that worker gathering supplies; time is much more valuable than supplies.

- Keep moving! Even if you're waiting for resources to load to continue down the path you've chosen, do something else, even if it's in the other direction.

- A well makes your workers work faster, but it is generally not interesting to go out of your way to repair one. If you have to build bridges, or restore quite a few roads to get there; only repair wells that are on your route, or if you have one of your workers with nothing else to do.

Walkthrough

Level 1.1

Tasks: Chop up 3 fallen trees and branches

After watching the intro, enter the first level. This is a very simple tutorial level, so just follow the game's directions.

Level 1.2

Tasks: Construct one farm; Repair the bridge

Construct a a farm, simply by clicking on the empty location. When the farm is build, it will provide you with 1 unit of food per minute, which your worker will need to keep going. Now chop up the several fallen trees lying on the paths to collect wood.

Don't forget to pick up the free supply of food just above your farm. If your worker runs out of food, just wait for a new supply of food to be offered by the farm, and pick it up.

When you find broken (dilapidated) pieces of road, just click on it to fix it. After fixing the road, just before the bridge, you will find a free supply of wood; take it. Now click on the bridge to fix it, and you will be able to continue your journey.

Level 1.3

Tasks: Construct one farm; Construct one cottage; Turn 5 sections of swamp into road using logs

Turn your worker's shack into a cottage by clicking on it, and at the same time, start building a farm. Once the cottage is finished, you will have a second worker. Use one worker to clear the fallen trees on the west path, and the other to clear them on the south path, and collect two free supplies of wood. While clearing the trees, you can send the other worker to start building a log path through the swamp. While you receive enough logs to clear the level, keep an eye on the southern path; free supplies of logs will slowly reappear, and while you don't need them to finish the level, any supplies you have extra add up to your score.

Level 1.4

Tasks: Repair the sawmill; Turn 7 sections of swamp into road using logs

Turn your worker's shack into a cottage and build a farm. Gather the two free supplies of wood and start clearing the fallen trees. Once you have gathered 15 wood logs, send one of your workers to fix the bridge. Once you've completed the bridge, build the sawmill and when that is done, start building a log path through the swamp to finish the level.

Level 1.5

Tasks: Pick 3 flowers; Repair 2 bridges

Bonus: faster workers

Start by gathering enough wood -10 in total- to build a cottage and get your second worker. Gather wood to build the sawmil and start fixing the broken farm in the West. As you work your way through the fallen trees to the flower field in the North, build the farm when you have enoug resources. Once you have a clear path to the flower field, gather the 3 flowers and start working your way East, fixing bridges and roads as your progress.

This is the first level that you are given a bonus: faster workers

Level 1.6

Building priorities:

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage

- Build a sawmill

Map priorities:

If you built a farm first, you should have plenty food to work your way through the forests. The most time-saving strategy is to gather gold, plant a flower, gather gold, plant a flower, gather gold and plant the last flower. With your other worker, just work your way to the exit.

Level 1.7

Building priorities:

- Build a sawmill

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage (after reaching the south beach)

- Build the temple (after starting on the first bridge)

Map priorities:

After building the the sawmill and farm, work your way to collect the pearls on the south beach. When you've collected these, work north through the forest, and send your other worker north east to the broken bridge. Build the temple to remove the ghost; start on this just after starting repairing the bridge.

Level 1.8

Building priorities:

- Build a sawmill

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage (after finishing the south bridge)

Map priorities:

First work south, towards the the broken sawmill. Once you've finished the south bridge leading to the sawmill, build a cottage and as soon as that is finished, start working towards the swamp in the north east.

Level 1.9

Building priorities:

- Build a sawmill

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage (once you've reached the brick path in the north west)

Map priorities:

Start by clearing and collecting the items on the southern path, build the sawmill as soon as possible, and continue collecting until you finished the farm. Now work north through the swamp, and once you've reached the brick road, build the cottage and send your second worker east. Working east, first focus on fixing the sawmill; after that, simultaneously finish the middle south path, and the south east path to the exit.

Level 1.10

This level is really easy, if you can keep your head. All you have to do is send your 4 workers out to collect all the gold. The key to doing this effectively, is by spreading them out, one in each direction, so they don't have to wait for eachother and constantly keep them moving.

Level 1.11

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse

- Build a sawmill

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage (once you've built the first bridge)

Map priorities:

Level 2.12

Mini game

Level 3.1

Building priorities:

- Build and uprgade a sawmill

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a market

- Build a cottage

Map priorities:

Start working towards the broken well in the south west, the to the fisherman's cottage in the north west, and finally towards the exit. As soon as you have a second worker, deploy him to start working on the path towards the exit.

Level 3.2

Building priorities:

- Build a sawmill

- Build a warehouse

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a market

- Build a cottage

Map priorities:

Start working towards the broken well in the north, and then start on the east path towards the exit, clearing the sidepaths as you pass them. As soon as you have a second worker, have him first focus on the desert rose before having him help you on the exit path.

Level 3.3

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build and upgrade a warehouse

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a market

- Build a cottage

Map priorities:

Start your way north to the stacks of wood. Make sure you have the fully upraded warehouse before you start collecting that wood. If you don't have it yet, start clearing the other paths in the meantime. Then start working on the path to the east, and when you get a second worker, deploy him for the north route to the exit.

Level 3.4

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a warehouse

- Build a sawmill

- Build a market

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Upgrade the market

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Build a cottage

Map priorities:

Start by heading east to the well, and repair it. Gather as least supplies going there. Wait with gathering supplies for the warehouse to have been build. Now first start working towards the desert rose in the west and also repair the fisherman's cottage there. You should have a second worker by now, so split the work between the north west path to the gold, and the rock path to the exit. Don't mind the north east well area, unless you have a worker with nothing to do.

Level 3.5

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build a warehouse

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build a cottage

- Build a well (only if you have time and supplies left after reaching the rocks before the exit)

Map priorities:

Work west to the three bridges, and rebuild these in the order: middle, east, west. Make sure you fully upgrade your warehouse before collecting the supplies on the other side of the stream. As soon as the bridges are finished, focus on working north west towards the exit. The north east well, and the supplies just south of that, can be scheduled when you have a second worker.

Level 3.6

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build a warehouse

- Build a market

- Build a cottage

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Upgrade the market

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a well (only if you have time and supplies left after reaching the rocks before the exit)

Map priorities:

First start working towards the fisherman's cottage you can repair in the center of the map. Then continue to work your way in this west and south west area, and make sure you've crossed the quick sand leading to the desert roses, before saving up wood for- and building the bridge in the far north..

Level 3.7

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a warehouse

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build a market

- Build a cottage

- Upgrade the market

- Build baracks

- Build a well (only if you have time and supplies left after reaching the rocks before the exit)

Map priorities:

Go east and north, to get the two stacks of logs from behind the rocks; don't start building the bridge, but start your way working to the center north, where you repair the fisherman's hut. Start working on the rocky road, and as soon as you have a second worker, send him east to the broken sawmill.

Level 3.8

This level is really easy, if you can keep your head. All you have to do is send your 4 workers out to collect all the gold. The key to doing this effectively, is by spreading them out, one in each direction, so they don't have to wait for eachother and constantly keep them moving.

Level 3.9

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse

- Build a sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build the market

- Build the fisherman hut

- Start working north east; as soon as you've finished collecting supplies in the south, start working your way through the rocks that lead to the exit

Level 3.10

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build a market

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a cottage

- Upgrade the market

- Build baracks

- Build a well

- Build a lodge

Map priorities:

Since you don't have a warehouse in this level, it is really important to keep collecting supplies and use them effectively. For instance, if you have 18 gold and 5 wood, clean some sand path, so you don't waste collected supplies because you can't keep more than 20 supplies of one type. Time the use of the "more supplies"-bonus to keep a constant stream going. Alternatively start working on the quicksand-area with the gold supplies, and the west route towards the burried treasure. Start on the rock path as soon as you have access to the gold in the quicksand and area and you have a second worker, since clearing that path takes a long time.

Level 3.11

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build and upgrade a market

- Build a cottage

- Build a well

- Build a lodge

- Upgrade the fisherman's hut

Map priorities:

- Work to the fisherman's hut in the north east

- Work the north west path towards the well

- Repair the fisherman's hut in the west, across the river

- Work the south west path -don't forget the potion, and then the south east path

- As soon as you have a free worker, start working on the rock path to the exit in the south

Level 3.12

Mini game

Level 4.1

Collect 2 logs and build a sawmill. Collect food while you wait for the sawmill to finish, and then collect the rest of the wood and start working towards the exit. All you need now for building is upgrading the sawmill; you can better use the wood for the ice.

Level 4.2

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade a warehouse

- Build and upgrade a sawmill

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a cottage

- Upgrade the sawmill

- No need to build a lodge or farm

Map priorities:

This is a pretty straight forward level. Start working north, and when you have a second worker, let him work to the wood supplies in the south.

Level 4.3

Building priorities:

- Build a sawmill

- Build a warehouse

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Build and upgrade a farm

- Build a cottage

- Upgrade the farm

- Build a temple

- Build a lodge

Map priorities:

Start with the south path, and go north towards the exit once you've either cleared the south path or got a second worker.

Level 4.4

Building priorities:

- Build a farm

- Build and upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the farm

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the farm

- Build barracks

- Build a cottage and a lodge

Map priorities:

Start working north to the fisherman's hut as soon as you can, and then continue north. Save the gold supplies in the south west for when you need them. Don't spend your time or resources on the sawmill in the west; you don't need it.

Level 4.5

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse

- Build and upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build a cottage

- Build a temple

- Build barracks

- Build a lodge

Map priorities:

- Clear the paths to the west

- Work to the food supplies behind the ghost in the middle

- Repair the fisherman's hut in the north west, behind the polar bear

- Repair the fisherman's hut in the south east

- Work towards the exit

Level 4.6

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse

- Build and upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build and upgrade a farm

- Build a cottage and a lodge

- Build barracks

Map priorities:

- Clear trees for logs

- Start working to the south west for the fishing enterprice

- Work north east, and then nort west

Level 4.7

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse and fully upgrade it

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build a cottage

- Fully upgrade the fisherman's hut

- Build a lodge

Map priorities:

- South east path

- West path

- East path to the exit

Level 4.8

Building priorities:

- Build and upgrade the sawmill

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Fully upgrade the fisherman's hut (after building the south bridge)

- Build a cottage

- Build a temple

- Build a farm and fully upgrade it

Map priorities:

Start working on the west path with boulders, and then go north east. In the meantime, work to the north east. Wait with lighting the torches until the end.

Level 4.9

Building priorities:

- Build a warehouse

- Build and upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage

- Upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the warehouse

- Build a lodge

- Build a temple

- Build barracks

Map priorities:

Start with just gathering supplies, working either way north. As soon as you have a second worker, have him start on the long path to the exit.

Level 4.10

This level is really easy, if you can keep your head. All you have to do is send your 4 workers out to collect all the gold. The key to doing this effectively, is by spreading them out, one in each direction, so they don't have to wait for eachother and constantly keep them moving.

Level 4.11

Building priorities:

- Build a fisherman's hut

- Build and fully upgrade the sawmill

- Upgrade the fisherman's hut

- Build a farm

- Build a cottage

- Fully upgrade the farm

- Build a lodge

- Build a temple

- Build barracks

Map priorities:

A tricky last level, where again you have no warehouse to use; so the general strategy is, go where the resources are, and use the resources before they stack up to 20. Start working south west and mid north, then go to the ghost area, the polar bear in the north, and the mid-west. Wait with collecting the keys until you've cleared the boulder path to the exit, and are working on the bridges.
